In February 2002, the Federal Government’s Interdepartmental Committee on Employment-based Health Insurance Surveys approved the following set of definitions for use in Federal surveys collecting employer-based health insurance data. The BLS National Compensation Survey currently uses these definitions in its data collection procedures and publications. These definitions will be periodically reviewed and updated by the Committee.
ASO (Administrative Services Only) – An arrangement in which an employer hires a third party to deliver administrative services to the employer such as claims processing and billing; the employer bears the risk for claims.
¨ This is common in self-insured health care plans.
Coinsurance – A form of medical cost sharing in a health insurance plan that requires an insured person to pay a stated percentage of medical expenses after the deductible amount, if any, was paid.
¨ Once any deductible amount and coinsurance are paid, the insurer is responsible for the rest of the reimbursement for covered benefits up to allowed charges: the individual could also be responsible for any charges in excess of what the insurer determines to be “usual, customary and reasonable”.
¨ Coinsurance rates may differ if services are received from an approved provider (i.e., a provider with whom the insurer has a contract or an agreement specifying payment levels and other contract requirements) or if received by providers not on the approved list.
¨ In addition to overall coinsurance rates, rates may also differ for different types
of services. (more…)

Bianca Bannerman Health Benefits of Coconut Oil
February 13th, 2012
Bianca Bannerman The health benefits of coconut oil include hair care, skin care, stress relief, maintaining cholesterol levels, weight loss, increased immunity, proper digestion and metabolism, relief from kidney problems, heart diseases, high blood pressure, diabetes, HIV and cancer, dental care, and bone strength. These benefits of coconut oil can be attributed to the presence of lauric acid, capric acid and caprylic acid, and its properties such as antimicrobial, antioxidant, antifungal, antibacterial, soothing, etc.
How is Lauric Acid Used by our body?
The human body converts lauric acid into monolaurin which is claimed to help in dealing with viruses and bacteria causing diseases such as herpes, influenza, cytomegalovirus, and even HIV. It helps in fighting harmful bacteria such as listeria monocytogenes and heliobacter pylori, and harmful protozoa such as giardia lamblia. As a result of these various health benefits of coconut oil, though its exact mechanism of action was unknown, it has been extensively used in Ayurveda, the traditional Indian medicinal system. The Coconut Research Center has compiled various references on scientific research done on coconut oil.
Before we move on to the benefits of coconut oil in detail, let us understand its composition. (more…)
The key to success
February 13th, 2012
Bianca Bannerman To combine the pleasant with the useful – I do not happen very often. And this is what has just happened. I was invited to a garden party. Mariana Mihova estate agent (Agent immobilier affilié, Groupe Sutton), made the traditional meeting with their clients on a barbecue among cool pine forests Lorantidite. The villa is perched on a lake with a mirror’s surface, which grooves only the shadows of surrounding trees. Light breeze gentle undulation leaves of water lilies. Wild ducks dived into the cool waters. No, I can not describe the situation. Poor is my tongue, I do not reach superlatives. Among this fabulous setting Mariana greeting clients, friends and collaborators from other industries. Exquisite elegance in her dress, she scurried between people, tables, drinks, wanted everyone to pay attention to my surprise – succeeded! I watched her with admiration. I had not heard of another real estate agent to make such appointments. To prepare to meet more than 100 people (to be precise – we were only 115) and take care to prepare handmade salads to provide drinks, sausages, steaks. Share in the preparations had her husband Eugene Mihov – civil engineer, inspector of buildings (Batiment Expert Montreal, tel.514 578 8295). Undoubtedly tandem – as in life, so her work, and entertainment. A men’s side by an intelligent woman. No wonder their success – a couple who knows what and how to achieve your goals. (more…)
